6 Rules for a Successful Short Term Experience

We will prepare for this experience with a certain mindset at the start... please allow God to open our hearts and minds so His ways can been seen through our words and actions.
*
1. Insist the Nationals set the direction for the project.
They have the best information and cultural understanding.

2. Take instructions from the Nationals.
This shows them respect and creates teamwork.

3. Receive from the poor.
(Giving is way easier than receiving, so brace yourself!)

4. The level of effort you would put into a project at your own church... double it.

5. Once arrive in the new country, never, never complain about anything. (Give this one a practice run at home first...)

6. Don't give personal gifts.
Your best intentions could upset the equilibrium in another country.

Allow Partnership Ministries & the Nationals to determine what gifts should be given. The only exception is giving a recuerdo (or remembrance gift) to a hosting family that shares a meal with you.
